O Holy Night

2 Corinthians 3:12-18
Transformation. It is both promise and miracle as the Spirit inhabits our bodies and our lives, and forms us into the likeness of Christ. The early church father Athanasius said, “God became who we are so that we can become what He is.”
What an amazing theological premise: God became all that it means to be human so that we can be fully transformed into God’s image. Just as miraculous birth is part of our story, so too is growth. Scripture says that Jesus grew in knowledge and stature as a human. Just as God inhabited skin, so too the Holy Spirit fills our human bodies and brings our will home to His will. In our human story, there is both a moment of obedience and the lived-out life of obedience, both of which are a journey of grace.
