Daniel 7:23-28
The world seems more and more bent on tearing itself apart as the years roll by. We see neighbor pitted against neighbor; family member at odds with family member. Strife and discord abound in our world, nations, communities, and families. Peace seems nothing but a wishful dream that we must wait for—someday.
The book of Daniel speaks to us about something that is hard to imagine in these days of polarization, war, and disaster: unity and peace. Those rulers that must bow down are found in the empires of our world and the empires of our hearts. Yet, when all rulers can agree to worship and obey God, this will be a world of unity and peace. What a vision. What a promise.
Scripture says that this state of peace and unity will be everlasting. We have everything to gain in this journey of obedience. Picture yourself in the presence of Jesus, a presence filled with that joyful, lean-back-and-laugh, robust sensation that everything is right in the world.
