1 Peter 4:12-19

When Christie and her sisters were growing up, they were known as the Goehring girls. Their father was 12 years old when Pearl Harbor was bombed, and the United States entered World War II. Being a child with the last name Goehring was not easy. Their great-grandfather never spoke German, not wanting to be labeled a Nazi sympathizer.

As Christians, we glorify God in our sufferings. Some, glorifying God through their witness, lose their lives for their faith in Jesus. They glorify God through their testimony.

These early believers were given the name “Christians.” There was something special about them, something that stood out. They stood out so much that people named them at first as an insult, but the believers praised God for the name.

Do you remember the first time you or someone else called you a Christian? How did you feel about it? We have the responsibility to live up to the name.

When you are with others who do not know the Lord the way you do, is God’s glory revealed through you? How can we demonstrate God’s glory through our lifestyle?
