Majesty and Might

Amos 4:7-13

We lived in a beautiful little town for five years, complete with a river running through it and mountains forming a stunning backdrop. It is a pristine spot for filming movies. Yellowstone Park lies just a hop, skip, and jump away.

This town had just one downside: The wind would whip through the nearby mountain pass and rage through the town. The wind was so powerful that the highway department would close the freeway and reroute traffic through town so cars would not get blown off the road. One time, the wind came with such force that it knocked a train from the tracks and onto its side.

Walking by the river, with the majestic mountains in the distance, feeling the powerful wind, I had to acknowledge our almighty God. The beauty testified to His majesty, the wind to His almighty power.

It is humbling to consider that God reveals himself to us. We are but a whisper in history, but God loves us enough to call us back to himself through action.
