Follow the Trail

Isaiah 43:14-21
In a world with so many ways of finding our way from point a to point b, we may fail to understand the significance of God’s words in Isaiah 43.
If you have ever traveled to a place far from civilization, you may better appreciate God’s promise. Hiking through a wood isn’t bad if the path is marked out for you. However, if the trail ends for whatever reason, you may find it difficult to move forward.
The small wood near our home is overgrown and difficult to walk through because of vegetation. Life can often seem like those woods: dense, confusing, and constricting. Which way do you turn?
God’s message is clear to His people: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (v. 19). The trail is marked by God’s presence. You cannot disregard God and expect to have a path to follow. It is only by walking in tandem with God will you see the new thing God does.
