Acts 2:37-47

My father growing up was a part of the Boy Scouts. I’ve heard many stories from his time as a scout. Scouting was such a huge part of my father’s childhood, that he continued through the program until completing the top goal and becoming an Eagle Scout.

One of the foundations of what it means to be a scout, is the phrase, “be prepared.” While it may seem a bit trite, or even daunting, to “be prepared” isn’t a bad way to live.

Peter and the believers had willingly, openly shared their witness of Jesus Christ in a city that had days ago been hostile to them. Those in the crowds listening were amazed and convicted. They wanted to know what they needed to do with this good news. Here is where the disciples had to “be prepared.” They needed to know how to help others hear, accept, and participate in the kingdom of God.

Often we believe it is the job of the professional clergy to “lead people to Christ.” God, however, is calling each of us to be prepared to help others enter the kingdom. Are you prepared?
