Acts 2:25-36

A story can be unbelievable, unless you have an eye-witness. The significance of a witness can change someone’s story from a fairytale to solid fact. Don’t believe the “tall tale” you child just shared but if she brings along a credible witness it’s suddenly all plausible.

The events leading up to our scripture today certainly were inconceivable and disorienting. A man claiming to be the Messaih—the Son of God—was arrested by the powerful Roman government, tried, and executed. His followers scattered, fearful of similar experiences. And yet, here they are now, days later sharing openly about the grace and power of Jesus. They were no longer afraid to share what they had personally witnessed about the Messiah. No matter what those hearing believed about Jesus before that day, they could not deny an eye-witness account.

Often we are afraid to share our testimony with others. What if they reject us or don’t believe us? One of the wonderful things about our testimonies is that it is our eye-witness of Jesus in our lives.

The Promised Baptism in the Holy Spirit
    Acts 1:4-8
4 On one occasion, while He was eating with them, He gave them this command:
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard Me speak about.
5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
6 So when they met together, they asked Him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom of Israel?”
7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
The disciples received the Promised Baptism in the Holy Spirit and their lives were transformed. They became bold witnesses for the truth about their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is available to believers today! Believers need to ask our Heavenly Father, in faith believing He will grant their request, to fill them with the Promised Baptism in the Holy Spirit!
