Don’t Wait—Care Now

1 Timothy 5:1-8
In Matthew 9:36, we are told Jesus was moved with compassion as he saw the situations of hopelessness around Him. The Sermon on the Mount is filled with ways we are called treat one another as citizens of the kingdom. Jesus constantly spoke of living another way.
As a person shaped by Jesus, you are familiar with the concept of treating others as you would want them to treat you. Simply put, place yourself in their situation. See through their eyes. Understand their circumstance. Place yourself there and have an understanding of what you would hope someone would do for you. You surely wouldn’t want your family and loved ones to abandon you!
Be moved by compassion, empathize, and help how you can, now. Not just because you are a good person, but because you are a person transformed by the Holy Spirit who is at work in you. Jesus never abandons us in our moment of need. Allow the Holy Spirit to work through you this week.
