Genesis 1:1-5, 26—2:3

We live in a world that teaches us to put others down to feel better about ourselves. This has led to a society full of people who have poor self-esteem. Often it leads to a vicious circle where people are put down, put others down in response, and then the cycle repeats itself. In many instances this very cycle leads to violence in one form or another. It is a cycle that must be broken.

One of the best ways to fight this cycle is to simply see people as who they are. When we choose to see them as people created in the image of God, things change. We all come from different backgrounds, financial means, families, and circumstances. However, no matter where we come from, each and every one of us is a special creation made by God. Even in our darkest moments, God loves us.

The next time we are tempted to speak down to someone, we need to remember that they are created in the image of God. Choose to see them through God’s eyes and with His heart. Let’s find a way to lift each other up instead of tearing each other down.
