RG101411Psalm 139:13-24
What are you after in life? Wealth, prestige, happiness? God called David a man after his own heart (1 Sam. 13:14; Acts 13:22). Though guilty of adultery and even murder, he had a heart that yearned for God.
Rationalizing our own misdeeds against David’s deep sins may keep us from examining our hearts and seeing our need for personal forgiveness. Is there one of us who has not betrayed our Lord in some way?
David’s powerful faith and his strong love for God’s law are unmistakable in the scripture. David included God in every area of his life. His thoughts were seldom far from the Almighty. David drew so close he could feel God breathing.
This attitude should mark every Christian. When God shines a light into our souls, he looks for humble repentance and tenderly takes back the heart intent on following him.
