Matthew 23:33-39.

Gathering children together is not a simple task. You may momentarily be able to get a group of children to focus on something, but then distractions happen, attention is turned to something else, or someone just takes off running somewhere else.

The people of God throughout Scripture have been like distracted children. Beginning with Adam and Eve through today, God has been calling His creation, His children back to Him. He has been trying to show the way and has provided a way that He could gather together His children. Yet we have been, and are continually, distracted, turning away from Him. He has been pointing the way through covenants, kings, laws, prophets, and finally through sacrificing His own Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross.

God longs to gather His children. Today, do not turn away from God; listen to those who are urging you toward God. Listen to the Holy Spirit and the ways it is leading you to draw closer to God.

As we seek to focus on God day in and day out, then we will begin to be able to reflect God’s heart in our words, thoughts, and actions.
