We Are Evangelists

2 Corinthians 5:8-15

I was sitting in a packed auditorium, and the man at the front was talking about the newest rollout of a popular computer software. It would be a massive overhaul of the software.

Early in his presentation, the speaker shared with us his job title. He was an “evangelist” for the company. His “good news”? The new version would fix most of the problems with our computers.

As Christians, we have received life-changing good news. The Lord of all creation offers to give us true life as He always intended. Our sin and brokenness can be forgiven and resolved by the blood of Jesus. Our wayward wanderings can be grounded and given purpose through the daily guidance of the Holy Spirit. Our lonely isolation can evaporate when we are incorporated into the church, the loving family of God’s people.

For the deep hurts that plague our world, we know that the life-giving love of Jesus has the answer.
