1 Corinthians 15:15b-23
In Genesis 3:22, we encounter these words, “He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” Death was ushered in by our first ancestor, for in Adam all die.
Generations passed, the prophets came, Scripture foretold, and now the Messiah Jesus lived, died, and rose from the dead. Earlier this year, I met a Vietnam veteran who told us the story of how he had died and received his life back again. There were some residual effects, and he had related disabilities, but he is alive and now a believer in Jesus Christ and the resurrection. Some of his memory was affected. He cannot walk long distances, but he excitedly awaits a time when his once-dead body will be changed.
He has unbounded hope. Christ has come. One day, everyone who trusts in Jesus will be resurrected. Then, “‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain” (Revelation 21:4). What joy that will be!
