Victory Through Jesus

March 28th, 2024

1 Corinthians 15:50-58

Years ago, during my senior year in high school, I saw a notice recruiting swimmers for the high school swim team. In my younger years, my neighborhood friends and family members would spend days on end at the public swimming pool. One would toss a coin or small rock in the pool, and we would all race to retrieve it first. This experience honed my swimming skills.

Reading this recruitment notice, I somehow mustered the courage to try out for the team. I was accepted and stuck with it through the season. I played catch-up to more experienced swimmers, but improved my time. My parents were so proud! That year at the state swim meet, our team took first place! Honestly, I would have to say that our victory came through a few key swimmers and divers and their years of experience in competitions.

In 1 Corinthians 15, death sought victory, but Jesus is more powerful! Jesus is the key. We thank God, because God is the one who gives us not only victory, but the victory.

Verse 58 reminds us: “You know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” Stay the course to victory!
