Divine Guidance

March 15th, 2024

Romans 14:15-23

Conflict is messy. It is rough and exhausting. Conflict knows no boundaries. Conflict isn’t seasonal, nor is it restricted to a particular time of day. I don’t know anyone who would truly admit they enjoy a full-blown, all-out confrontation. I think it’s safe to say that the majority of humanity prefers peace over an ugly dispute.

Unfortunately, conflict is a permanent part of life on this earth. It entered the world in the Garden of Eden when the first sin was committed, and it will be present until this life is over. At some point in every human’s life, there will be some sort of conflict.

We as Christ-followers must endeavor to always seek peaceful resolutions whenever possible. We must seek divine guidance on how to sort out the tangled messes that come our way. It’s important to consider the feelings of others and not purposefully set out to initiate quarrels. As cliché as it may be, it is always wise (albeit not always easy) counsel to entertain the following inquiry: What would Jesus do? Following in our Savior’s footsteps is always good advice.
