Partnering Gets More Done

March 6th, 2024

1 Corinthians 3:16-23

A county fair held a horse-pulling contest. The first-place horse ended up moving a sled weighing 4,500 pounds. The second-place horse pulled 4,000 pounds. The owner of those two horses decided to see what the horses could pull together. He hitched them up and found that the team could pull 12,000 pounds. By working individually, the two horses pulled 8,500 pounds, but when coupled together they could pull an extra 3,500 pounds.

It’s no different in a church. When collaborating together with other believers, great things can happen for God. When we have a common goal, a common purpose, and Christ as the leader of our wagon train, we can go farther than we ever could have on our own. Working together makes a difference.

Great churches are not filled with lone rangers, but with people who understand that partnering and teamwork gets far more accomplished. The pastor can’t do it alone. Neither can the church board or the volunteers. Everyone is needed—working and partnering together to see the work of Christ accomplished.
