Thrifty and Thankful

Proverbs 13:11-18
In a day and age that glorifies quick success and lavish lifestyles, where debt exists in pandemic proportions, and in which fortunes are made and dissipated almost overnight, it’s essential for us to rediscover thankfulness and thriftiness.
Thankfulness is what makes us value the blessings that we have already received. Too often, we take for granted things that most people in the world do not have, because we have somehow let the rich set the standards of what God’s provision ought to look like. Comparison and contentment don’t go well together.
Thriftiness is what makes us value hard work, keeps our acquisitiveness under control, helps us make wise financial choices, and avoid the traps of debt.
We are called to worship God with all that we have, and be free, generous citizens of His kingdom. Let’s be thankful today for the gifts God has already given us, and let’s seek to glorify Him with decisions that reflect thriftiness and generosity.
