God Is Faithful

February 3rd, 2024

2 Timothy 2:8-13

Have you ever been disowned by a friend or family member? Usually, it is for something you did, said, or believed, or did not do, say, or believe. In some cultures, if a family member is disowned, they are considered to be dead to the family. All connections are cut off, all support stops, the relationship is done.

Humans may be quick to disown someone, but God is not. 2 Timothy 2:13 says, “God cannot disown himself.” No matter what we have done, said, or believed, God is faithful. God’s faithfulness is not dependent on our actions, thoughts, opinions, or beliefs. God sent His Son to die for us even when we were unfaithful.

We are God’s children. God cannot, and will not, disown us. God was, is, and always will be faithful. In response to God’s faithfulness, we should—through His strength—strive to be faithful to love and obey Him.
