Taste and See

Psalm 34:1-8

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love celebrating and being with family. There is not much required other than friends at your side and food on your plate. I am not sure which of those two I enjoy more. I love a good meal. There is something about the aroma of a roasting turkey or the taste of a perfectly pecan-topped sweet potato casserole. My family loves it too, so much so that we usually celebrate the holiday twice, once at my home and then again, the next week at my parent’s home.

Psalm 34 reminds me of Thanksgiving! It combines the beauty of celebrating the Lord, giving Him praise, and then verse 8 really brings it home: “Taste and see that the LORD is good.” King David knew what it was like to eat good food and to enjoy the company of others.

May David’s praise be a reminder to us today. Whatever you are facing at this moment, know that you are not alone. Call a friend and share God’s goodness. Celebrate all that the Lord has done. Take time to remember the greatness of God and give Him thanks today.
