There’s a Peace In My Heart
December 10th, 2023
1 Peter 2:4-10
Do you remember during your childhood those moments when someone was choosing from the group? Perhaps it was for a ball game. It could have been when a classmate got to choose a friend to share a special duty or privilege. It might have been a group of friends looking for others to include. Whatever the situation, were you chosen? Did you get to join at that time, later, or not at all?
What a privilege that God chooses us and then molds us into a blessing for others. God affirms to us that we belong to Him, and gives us special status as a priesthood, a holy nation, a special possession. This “chosen” status is both exhilarating and sobering, for our purpose is to be a witness to the world that the kingdom of God both exists and is yet coming. This kingdom, here but not yet fully here, is nearly impossible to explain, and yet, we are clearly told to declare the praises of God.
Remember that you have a purpose in eternity. You are chosen.
