God Knows Us, His Sheep

November 3rd, 2023

John 10:7-18

There are some people we meet who have incredible memories. They remember your name, where you met, why you met, and what connected you to them. I’ve never been that guy.

As a pastor, I’m often recognized by folks in public. Admittedly, there are many who know who I am, but I have no clue who they are, how we met, or why. I ask leading questions to try to reconnect with them to figure out what they probably remember that I don’t. Sometimes, my ignorance is almost embarrassing. I’m amazed by what I don’t remember.

One of the best things about God is what He knows . . . and whom. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, knows exactly whose are His. We’re His people. We’re His flock. He knows us all by name. He knows everything about us and our relationship with Him.

That’s amazing, but there’s more. He lives to reveal himself to us. He’s not satisfied with us just knowing about Him. He wants us to really know Him. We get to know our Good Shepherd personally, intimately, and eternally by name.
