God Takes Over Shepherding
October 31st, 2023
Ezekiel 34:7-16
Nobody is perfect. We strive for perfection; after all, it is God’s standard. However, we’re all human. Not the least of these are our pastors and church staff. In the church, people may from time-to-time become disappointed by their leadership. Sometimes they’re justified. Other times, not so much. Either way, God understands. Rather than simply complaining about it, He stepped up taking on the role of shepherd.
God was going to look after His flock, starting with David. He would rescue them, bring them together, provide for them, heal them, strengthen them, and bring about His justice. Later, Jesus accomplished all of that. He called himself the “Good Shepherd” (John 10:11, 14). In doing so, Christ set us an example worth following.
Let’s take some time today for some introspection. Are we doing what God called us and equipped us to do? Do we follow Him perfectly? Do we need to show ourselves some grace? Maybe others in our faith community need us to show them grace like the Good Shepherd shows us.
Let’s choose to be the one God leads to care for those around us.
