Rejoice in the Flames

October 13th, 2023

Daniel 3:16-26

We know God is everywhere. No place exists where we can avoid His presence; yet we stand with the pagans in shocked amazement as a fourth man joins Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace?

We know God has a knowledge and wisdom that is unequaled, exceeding any human understanding. Why are we humbled by the testimony of the young men as they say, “even if He chooses not to . . . ”?

What if the expectation of our personal spiritual growth was not to be amazed that God is present in the fire, but our response is, “of course He is there.” Then it becomes possible for us to fall into the furnaces of life with confidence.

When the response of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego becomes the bedrock of faith rather than the pinnacle, then we too will rejoice in the flames.
