Guiding Us Safely Home

September 10th, 2023

Psalm 73:23-28

The psalmist in Psalm 73 had just come through a time of struggle over the injustice of life. The wicked appeared to get away with their evil behavior. They prospered while the righteous dealt with one trouble after another. What was the point of living to please God when new problems arose every single day? Does God even know or care? How does one get off this slippery slope of despair and envy?

The answer appears when we draw near to God. It is when we enter the sanctuary of God’s presence that wisdom and peace come. God is ever near His children. He holds us with His comforting hand.

When my son was little we often took evening walks. It was a joy to feel his small hand clasped in mine. He knew he could trust me. Experience has taught us that our God is good and wise. My little overall-clad boy knew that I would get him safely home. We can trust our Holy God to counsel us wisely and to “lead us all the way to glory.”
