Simply Do Good

August 15th, 2023

Titus 3:9-15

Some people like to cause dissent in the family of God. I have heard pastors share about congregants who are not happy unless they are stirring up division in the church. Apparently, Titus was experiencing this very thing in Crete.

We find instructions here for us as well. There are seven behaviors listed to avoid: foolish controversies, genealogies, arguments, quarrels, divisiveness, sinfulness, and unproductive lives. Some of those in the church were arguing and stirring up division.

Paul offers instructions. They should do good. That sounds simple but takes effort. They should provide daily necessities and do everything they can to help. There is a sense of simplicity in these directions. In the busyness of following these directions, there is not enough time to be causing dissension through divisiveness.

When we go about our daily lives, let’s remember what is truly important. How can we do good to others and build them up? How can you express Christ’s love to those who walk this earth with us?
