The Perfect Law

August 6th, 2023

Psalm 19:7-11

Nothing we do is perfect. Even when we try hard using our best skills and knowledge, perfection eludes us.

Psalm 19 remind us that God’s law is perfect. It does not need to be edited or improved. God’s commandments warn and reward. They set boundaries without gates. They draw fences no one should sit on. They protect us more than we can imagine.

Yet, some will argue their need for improvement and create doubt concerning God’s wisdom. That posture will break us, not save us.

Instead, we need to take another deep and long look into the laws and precepts of God. We use them as our mirror and edit our reflection so that we accurately reproduce what the perfect law of God can accomplish in our lives. We submit to them as our best hope for bringing God’s kingdom to earth. They become our help, not our stumbling block; our joy, not our burden. We live by their warnings and enjoy their rewards.

And God responds, “Perfect!”
