Spur Each Other On

June 30th, 2023

2 Timothy 2:1-10

There is something that happens when people get into a crowd. People make decisions they may not normally make. Mob justice can be painfully destructive to lives and reputations.

On the flip side, I believe there is such a thing as “mob influence.” When we hear testimonies of the faithful and stories of the redeemed, we are spurred on to be more faithful. When we experience God’s grace through the sharing of the gifts that He has given us, we feel compelled to help others use their gifts as well. When we feel God’s grace and peace in our lives, we want others to know God’s saving power. Christians help each other grow in faith, life, and spiritual disciplines. We know how to suffer by watching how other believers have suffered through trials, loss, and difficulties.

I am old enough to remember testimonies of the saints in my church growing up. My memories are filled with their faithfulness and the stories of how God had been with them in difficult times. Others will be attracted to a community that loves authentically, and demonstrates faith during life’s storms, they will be attracted to the message of the gospel.
