God Is Our Hope
June 17th, 2023
1 Timothy 6:13-21
During the pandemic, life changed in dramatic ways for most of us. Some of us were lucky enough to still have jobs and a steady income. We learned to work from home, attending events digitally, learning to use tools like Zoom for the first time. Still, the unknowns of the virus making its way through our communities left us uncertain of what the future would hold.
For others, job loss meant losing the life we had invested in. It is hard not to be able to depend on a steady income, to have to turn to others to help us to get by, to be fearful of the future, not knowing how we would survive, or where we would end up.
A deep truth underlies this reality: Life is uncertain, and we cannot put our faith in mortal things. Instead, we have to put our hope in God because God is the only certainty in this world of uncertainties. Wealth is not certain. Paul wrote to Timothy to remind him that the rich were not to be arrogant in their wealth, but to put their hope in God, for He alone is solid and sure (v. 17).

We are clearly living in the last days brother. I appreciate your words this morning. We must remember as well that we need to be prepared to be persecuted for even saying the Mighty and Holy Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whose Name is above every name. Even in America. We are commanded to preach the gospel in and our of season, when it is comfortable and when it is not. Thanks for this steadfast message of hope in our Lord Jesus. If we persevere in Jesus by overcoming by His blood, the word of our testimony, and finally not being afraid to even give up our life for Him, in this world, we can look forward to His solid and sure promise in eternity. Amen.
