Having The Mind of the Spirit

1 Corinthians 2:7-13

Have you ever looked at someone and wondered what in the world they’re thinking about?

Paul’s words may sound familiar to us as we hear them two millennia after they were penned, but they are still incredibly powerful when we consider he’s telling us that no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God . . . and we have received that Spirit! I can’t help but wonder what Paul’s original audience must have thought as they learned about this for the first time. Can you imagine the awe they must have experienced?

What an amazing gift to have access to God’s mind and heart as we yield to His Spirit in our lives. It is divine knowledge and wisdom, far exceeding what even the most brilliant minds on earth could ever think or dream on their own. This was the source of Paul’s confidence; God desires it be the source of our confidence, too. 

God’s Spirit is truly a gift to be received by all who would humbly posture their hearts in welcome reception to the love of God through Jesus Christ.
