Wait in Hope

Psalm 91:1-8
Have you ever noticed that painful experiences and unexpected sorrows enter our lives without an appointment? Enemies only bring havoc and destruction. As we ponder the snapshots of our lives, some memories could be painful. But please know that the Lord offers rest in our weariness. Not every snapshot has to become a permanent portrait because we know God is mightier than all our experiences.
Scriptures encourage us to express our anguish to God, as in Psalm 90. There is a shift, however, that takes place in Psalm 91, moving from lament to trust. Trust is expressed as an act of genuine worship.
This Psalm invites us to place our trust in God while we wait in hope with confidence. Psalm 91 encourages belief in the rescue, security, and protection of God. Our source of strength is in the shelter of the Most High. God is greater than any threat. Remember the God who sees every event in our lives is also the God who hears every prayer. As we declare our faith in God, remember we can trust Him for the future.

Wow, really needed to be reminded of this today. “The LORD offers rest in our weariness.” “Trust is expressed as an act of genuine worship.” What a beautiful meditation on Psalms 91. Will meditate on this even more. It points me towards the story of Joseph and how long he had to wait on God to act, yet he remained faithful and loyal to our sovereign and mighty God. Genesis 50:20 20 “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” God is good all the time!
