Why Do You Worship?

1 Corinthians 3:1-11
Immature people are often arrogant and egocentric; they like to take credit for accomplishments they had little or even nothing to do with. On the other hand, mature people are often humble and wise enough to give credit where credit is due. They know that while they may have played a small part in accomplishing something great, they are reaping the benefits of those who came before them.
The church in Corinth was full of immature Christians. In comparison to human development, they were spiritual babies only drinking milk because they weren’t developed enough for solid food. While it seems hard to believe, the Corinthians were confused as to who they should worship.
The world is full of brilliant people. I am so thankful for doctors who are able to perform life-saving procedures, engineers who make our lives safer, and pastors who explain the truths of scripture. However, we don’t worship doctors, engineers, or pastors. We are to worship God, the One who created them.
It’s a great reminder for each of us. We shouldn’t worship the messenger; we should worship the One who created the messenger.
