Authentic Faith: Relationship With God
January 13th, 2022
John 15:1-8
One of the most important heart prayers we can pray is, “Lord, I need You.” If we truly believe that we are the branches and Jesus is the vine then we should celebrate and revel in our neediness for our Savior. Sometimes we get locked into the seduction of self-sufficiency. We are applauded when we independently navigate our problems and show off our skills. None of our efforts mean anything if we are striving to receive our own glory.
Our relationship with God is on full display when we see the fruit of our lives. All followers of Christ have the gorgeous privilege of helping others follow Jesus. If no one wants to walk like we do, our discipleship fruit does not bring glory to God. However, if we continually pray, “Lord, I need You,” God is faithful and comes near.
Are you trapped in self-sufficiency? Are you convinced your efforts are what make good fruit? Or are you bold enough to be absolutely needy for God?
