Powerful Words

I recently had an acquaintance ask me about translation of Bibles and differences that can be found. This young adult was concerned about changes in words and cross references to various parts of scripture. After chatting for a while about scriptures, I came away from the conversation encouraged that people are curious enough to seek and ask questions.
Scriptures have been and can be misused. The Bible has been used to support and promote ideas and actions contrary to what Jesus’ ministry is about. No doubt, Scripture is a powerful tool to use for the good and promotion of the kingdom of God in the world. The true power of the Scriptures lies in God. Without God, there is no power.
As we study Scripture, and as we wield it in our world, let us be certain to be in the right relationship with God, the one who breathes power into the Bible. If we remain in God, we are so much less likely to misuse and abuse those around us with the powerful revelation we have in Scriptures.
