Lies, Lies, Lies

Genesis 3:1-8
Our 5-year-old has begun telling lies. Simple things that are not true, like, I ate all my apple, when clearly, he did not. This is not something that we have taught him, but he knows how to do it. He also knows that it is wrong.
It can be so simple to tell people what they want to hear, rather than the sometimes difficult truth. God told Adam and Eve the truth, but they did not want to really hear or understand it the way God intended. So, when the serpent came with his way of seeing things, Eve was persuaded to go against God and eat the fruit. Did the serpent lie, or did he just tell them what they wanted to hear?
God doesn’t want us to lie or to try and hide things from Him. He wants to hear from us everything. We should be talking with God all the time, about the good things and the hard things. God even seeks us out to have a relationship with Him. We may not hear God coming as Adam and Eve did, but when we are listening, God wants to tell us He loves us.
