We Are Foreigners to the World
December 31st, 2020
1 Peter 2:11-25
In the time period of the early church, people of The Way—the followers of Christ—were believed to be heretical because they met to eat and drink the body and blood of Jesus. The accusations against those early believers were rampant and powerful, yet here is a word of hope that should not be lost. Peter tells us that living good lives amongst the pagans can lead to their very act of glorifying God. The richness of our testimony is lived out to the glory of God in the daily acts of kindness, faithfulness, self-sacrifice, and self-control.
We now belong to the Christ-kingdom. We are now foreigners in this world: We no longer follow the urges of sinful desires. People who are not yet of the kingdom are not blind to the reality of Christ in our lives and somehow the Holy Spirit’s presence in the believer is a testimony of Christ’s saving grace.
What does your life say about Christ to those around you?
