Psalm 73:21-28

Looking back on your life, what moments stand out the most?  Hopefully moments of joy and celebration are the ones that come first. What about the moments of protection from God? Perhaps there are a few moments in your life that you can see God’s hand at work protecting or saving, like an accident or almost accident that didn’t happen.

As I think about all the ways I want to shelter and protect my 4-year-old son, I can’t help but think about how much God is keeping me safe each day. I am sure that most of the time I am not even aware of how God is working in my situation. And often, what I can see I want to complain or comment about in a less than positive way. But truly God is our place of safety and we do not need to live in fear of all the things that could possibly go wrong.

Things will happen in our lives because we live in a broken world, but we can know that God is with us and protecting us all the time.

I definitely know of 3 times that God has protected me. Two times I could have been seriously injured in a auto accident and was not. Another time I found myself in a precarious situation and the Holy Spirit told me to leave. Praise God for his protection.

I can think of our marriage and the joy of the birth of our children and grandchildren! What joyous times! But I can also think of the loss of a grandchild, my near drowning when I was a teen and the dreaded possible diagnosis of our unborn son that did not come to pass. God has been with us through the good and the bad, and for that I am very thankful!!
