There’s Life In Hope

Proverbs 13:12-25
There was a time in my life when I yearned and longed for something that was not promised and could not be guaranteed. Yet, for several years, my entire faith journey was seen through the lens of wanting that thing I did not have. For some, that might be a marriage relationship. For others, it might be a child (or children). Some might identify with that kind of longing in reference to physical healing, deliverance from addiction, or to restoration of family relationships.
Whatever the situation, Proverbs 13 reminds us that God sees things differently than we do. Perhaps sometime, your hope will be fulfilled. Perhaps, it won’t be. Or, it’s possible your hopes will change and the way the answers come will surprise you. The point is not in the resolution or outcome of the situation. The point is this: are you willing to put your desires aside to seek God alone, even amid the longing? If so, the words of this proverb will prove true and you will find what you are looking for.
