Celebrating God’s Faithfulness
June 6th, 2020
Ezra 6:13-22
The story of Passover is an epic story of adventure, protection, and a momentous deliverance.
Passover refers to the deliverance of the Israelite families from the infamous tenth plague, when God’s spirit would kill the firstborn of every household, but spare (or pass over) any house which had the appropriate mark (the blood of a spotless lamb on the doorposts). God was faithful. All the Israelite children were spared, and all the Egyptians bore the grief of losing their firstborn, because Pharaoh would not bend.
Passover is when God spared His people. Passover is when God kept His promise. Passover is when God’s deliverance (though costly), was given to all who had obedient hearts. Many centuries later, Passover would be the time when God did all these things again, and ultimately, through the work of Jesus. God is faithful. And, no other moment in all of history is as worthy of remembering and celebrating.
