John 11:1-16
One of the responsibilities of being a parent is teaching your children how to navigate life. Whether it’s tying shoes, cooking lunch, or solving multiplication questions, teaching our children assures them a solid foundation from which to grow and live. The parent guides the child.
A problem can arise when the child refuses to listen (for whatever reason) to the parent. Have you been in this situation? A teacher insists that 2 and 2 is 4, but the child insists it is 5
Jesus surely understood the parental dilemma of having the answer but not having a teachable child. How often did those around Him think they knew better than Jesus? Despite this, Jesus continued to guide and teach them, showing them over and over the way of the kingdom of God.
What has God been trying to teach you lately? Have you had a teachable spirit, or a resistant one? God has created in us the ability to choose. We must allow the Spirit to create a soft, moldable heart in us so that God, through the Son, can teach us to be citizens of His kingdom.
