Christ’s Faithfulness

1 Thessalonians 5:12-28

“We feel God is asking us to give you our car.”

The words felt like they were sinking into my mind in slow motion. We had been desperate for a vehicle and now God was providing one in the most unconventional of ways.

Growing up, I was a faithful follower of The Price is Right. I could easily imagine what it would be like to open door number three, just to hear that I had won, “A brand new car!” The reality is, I could tell you dozens—even hundreds—of reasons why a generous gift should not be given to someone like me.

The apostle Paul’s words take the attention off of my deficiencies and place it back on the author and finisher of our faith: Jesus. Words like peace, sanctify, blameless, call, and faithful, focus on Christ not us.

May we rest today knowing that the grace and peace of Jesus are not only poured out on us, but we are equipped to carry the good message of hope as we pray continually and give thanks in all circumstances!
