Cause and Effect

Haggai 2:10-19
From a young age, humanity begins learning the relationship between cause and effect. An infant cries, she is fed or changed. A toddler runs in the house after being told otherwise and he falls down. A child studies hard, he gets good grades.
God the Father believes in cause and effect as well. We put Him first, God blesses. God enjoys giving good gifts to His children. God isn’t vindictive. He doesn’t dangle good things above our head and expect us to perform in order to receive them. Nor is God a vending machine. We can’t expect to put good works in and God to dispense our requests. Instead love facilitates the exchange. We put God first out of our love for Him. God blesses us out of His love for us.
God doesn’t stop loving us if we neglect to put Him first. Christ’s death and resurrection are signs of that everlasting love. However, the Father does long for us to choose Him. He will never force us to put Him first.

What a wonderful reflection. Is the author of Haggai speaking about Sivan or Kislev? The month of the Pentecost or the month of Christmas? What happened on that day he mentions?
