Hopeful Or Hopeless
January 16th, 2020
Romans 15:13-19
I have spent most of my adult life in ministry with children, and one thing I have noticed is that hope makes a huge difference. Many of the kids I have worked with come from places where there is not a lot of hope. They do not have dreams and aspirations of what they want to be when they grow up. They have no hope.
I have known other children whose hopes and dreams bound past the realms of reality, “I want to be a fire truck when I grow up.” Hope is what allows us to see beyond our current place in the world. Hope helps us continue to move beyond ourselves into a new and vibrant future.
This is what makes the message of Christ such a powerful one, because God is the God of Hope. Paul spent his life traveling the world and writing letters to share that hope. We as believers who receive God’s Holy Spirit are filled with hope. That hope overflows out of us, changing how we perceive and interact in the world around us. Ask the God of hope to fill you with His joy and peace today.
