Be Daring

1 Thessalonians 2:1-12

A few years back, Staples had a commercial series based around something called the “Easy Button.” The concept was that if you got in a bind, there would be a button you could push to smooth things out.

Unfortunately, life isn’t always smooth (and easy buttons don’t exist). Sometimes hardships come, suffering happens, obstacles get in our way. At times, the gospel itself faces opposition and obstacles from principalities and powers that are opposed to it.

Paul and his companions experienced this opposition repeatedly, but, with the help of God, “they dared” to share the good news of Jesus anyway.

A few verses later in the letter, we find that the motivation for this daring activity was a deep love of the Thessalonian people. “Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, so we cared for you. Because we love you so much, we were delighted to share with you” (1 Thessalonians 2:7b-8a).

May you be motivated to share by that same kind of love today.
