1 Peter 2:1-10

The clear blue waves of the Atlantic lapped up on the beaches of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. All 19 of my family members were walking, swimming, or laying in the sun. The day was perfect. The kids were taking turns burying one another in the sand when all the sudden one of them declared that we all should build a sand castle. And so we did. All of us at different times throughout the morning grabbed shovels, molds, buckets of water, and slowly, but surely a castle towered in the sand. It was by no means perfect, but it was ours and we loved it.

Often times we try to live as Christians on our own. Along the way we have lost trust in the church and in each other. Like the sandcastle, the church is not perfect, but together we build something amazing. Individually and corporately we have been chosen by God to be His people, His holy and royal possession. Together we are spiritual kingdom builders. So don’t leave yourself out of the family. Yes, we are messy and imperfect. Jump in anyways and be a part of the amazing community of God.
