Keeping Focus
March 4th, 2019
Philippians 1:12-18a
Some seasons of our lives are rough; they are filled with hardships. Perhaps, it is just one thing that is all wrong, or maybe everything is out of sorts. During these seasons it is easy to become inwardly focused. We only see what is wrong in our own life.
Paul is in prison. He is confined in chains. It is a season of hardship in his life. What does he do at this time? Paul speaks positively of his experience in prison. His eyes are always firmly planted on the goal: Christ and the furthering of the kingdom.
When life is hard, it is easy to focus on all the things that are going wrong. Paul reminds us where our focus should be: Christ and advancing of the Gospel. Even though he has been in prison, Paul has still been able to spread the Gospel. He is thankful for these opportunities; sees them as a blessing because through them the kingdom has been furthered.
We must not ever lose focus. We continually need to find ways to share our faith, to use our hardships to relate to others, and further the kingdom.
