Exodus 32:27-35

“God is love” (1 John 4:8). This belief is central to our Christian faith. People, however, sometimes can understand this to mean “unrestricted freedom without consequences.” A God who loves us so much that he would allow us to do whatever we want without consequences is a concept foreign to the Scriptures. In Exodus 32, the people erect an idol and then run around like a bunch of pagans. These are the same people that God loved so much that he sent Moses to rescue them from slavery, parted the sea for them to escape, and provided water, manna, quail, and his guiding presence. But my friend, a loving God is also a just God. Sin carries consequences with it.

God loved those you love so much that he went to the greatest lengths imaginable to redeem them: Jesus, the Lamb of God, was slain for their redemption. And yet some you love are still walking through life not having acknowledged their sin or having accepted His forgiveness. Pray for them, and share God’s love with them.
