1 Corinthians 12:21-31

In Christian community, there are real afflictions: physical, emotional, and spiritual wounds. Unfortunately, church people sometimes seem to want to ignore, get rid of, or, even worse, “shoot the wounded” Christian in our midst. Before reading further, ask the Holy Spirit to show you someone who might fit this description in your community of faith.

We are instructed to regard the “weaker and less honorable” among us as indispensable and to treat them with special attention and honor. We are not to show favoritism. Among the wounded in our Christian community, we are to help each other to have a spirit of praise through songs and edifying words when things may not be going well and even when they are.

The good news today is that despite the wounds of life, which are often varied and inexplicable, there is hope, guidance, and healing. Desire the best for each other as we walk side by side to the “last mile of the way.” Let us do this faithfully, personally; let us challenge others believers to join with us.
