1 Corinthians 12:1-11

First Corinthians 12:12-20 teaches how believers should act as a part of Christ’s church. In Christian community, there are some important rights and wrongs to being in loving relationships as Christ’s disciples. Verse 12 provides a synopsis for our thoughts today: “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.”

Our heavenly Father has one blood-washed church, but the body of Christ has diverse individuals who are granted different spiritual gifts by the Holy Spirit and assigned different roles to serve others for the glory of God. Yet, our diversity in the body does not negate the loving interdependence and fellowship that we need to exhibit within Christian community.

Often God’s children only seem to relate well to people who are similar to them. However, God has made and arranged the varied parts of His body. We need each other. God’s family works so much better when we practice faithful and loving relationships.
