Together In Tough Times
October 9th, 2017
Mark 14:32-41
Tough times had been our companion for over a month: malaria, staph infections, surgery, parasites, and worms. We were physically exhausted. A friend called early in the morning and asked how I could bless him that day. I rolled my eyes and quickly replied that I couldn’t bless him, but I sure could use him. That, he said, was the blessing he had in mind. My wife’s plane was scheduled to arrive in a few hours and I didn’t have enough energy to drive to the airport. Later that afternoon, he dropped my wife off at our door, along with some food for dinner. He was a friend in deed and in spirit.
No one ever said life would be “easy-peasy lemon-squeezy.” In fact, we can expect tough times. In the family of God, we need not face them alone. Just as Jesus asked for the disciples to be with Him in Gethsemane, we should depend on one another. We can pray. We can lend an ear. We can be present in so many ways. Who can bless you today? Who can you bless today?

This is strange, this is the 3rd or 4th time there have been gender inconsistencies with this author. The devotionals are wonderful but there is something different on this.
