Jesus: Our Messiah

John 1:32-42
For generations, God’s people were waiting for the coming of the Messiah, the Savior who would rescue them from their difficult circumstances. After spending his first day with Jesus, Andrew came to the realization that Jesus was in fact the Messiah. With much excitement, Andrew did what came naturally–he went and found his brother to share the good news: The Messiah had come!
As the people would find out, Jesus had indeed come to set the people free, but not from their political bondage. Jesus came to set them free from something much more dangerous–their spiritual bondage. While it is natural to want relief from our current difficult circumstances, we become shortsighted when we fail to see in Jesus the Savior who has come that we might be set free from spiritual bondage.
Take a moment to consider what, if anything, is holding back God’s presence and power in your life. Or, consider what God has already done and how you can share that good news with those around you.
